About Us

We are a local branch of the United States Pony Clubs, Inc., located in the Delmarva Region.  We provide regular education in the English riding disciplines and horse management.  Many of the top riders in the world are graduates of the Pony Club program, and a significant number of graduates utilize their indepth knowledge as veterinarians, scientists, and in other professional endeavors.

We are based in Kent and Queen Anne's counties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and most of our activities take place on private farms at no cost or minimal cost to the participants.  Furthermore, we are conveniently located nearby such beautiful, equestrian facilities as Olde Hope Farms, Unicorn Farms, and Fair Hill.  Our members ride throughout the year, and when the weather warrants, we make use of  the excellent, indoor riding facilities at either Worthmore Equestrian Center or Breezy Run Farm.

Pony Club riding instruction emphasizes basic balanced position, tactful aids, and safety. Our members also receive unmounted instruction from veterinarians, farriers, equine dentists, and experts in equine nutrition. Members progress through a system of ratings which include riding tests, horse management tests, or both.  The more highly rated members provide regular instruction to the beginners.

USPC competitions are held by region and are called rallies.  At rally, participants compete as a team and are judged on both riding skill and horse management.  Those who meet established rating and age requirements may qualify to compete at USPC Championships in either Lexington, KY, or Lexington, VA.

Our members do not have to own a horse but should have regular access to an appropriate mount through a lesson program.
